How to Get Here
Rock Island Lodge is located on the shore of Lake Superior, just outside Wawa, Ontario, a small town about 2.5 hours north of Sault Ste. Marie and five hours east of Thunder Bay, on the Trans-Canada Highway. The lodge sits on a private seven-acre peninsula at the mouth of the Michipicoten River, about 10 kilometres (six miles) from Wawa.
From the South:
North of Lake Superior Park and after crossing the Michipicoten River, turn left and head west on the Michipicoten River Village Road. Follow for about one kilometer (0.6 miles) and turn right at the intersection. Travel north about 500 meters (1/4-mile), crossing a bridge. Then make a left hand turn at the T-intersection. Follow this road west for about a kilometer (0.6 miles). The road becomes gravel, crosses another bridge, and curves past a cemetery to a hydroelectric generating facility at the base of a large hill. Turn left just before the hill, and drive about one kilometer (0.6 miles) to Rock Island Lodge.
From the North:
Follow the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 17) south from Wawa about five kilometres (three miles) before turning right on Michipicoten River Village Road. See above for the rest of the directions.
