Four Reasons Why Naturally Superior Adventures is a Centre for Sea Kayak Instruction Excellence

.) Multi-discipline: Naturally Superior Adventures offers skills and instructor courses in sea kayaking, canoeing and standup paddleboarding. We’ve been recognized by Sea Kayaker magazine as sea kayak experts, offering beginner to advanced courses and instructor training. We also provide Paddle Canada canoe instructional programs and certified Paddle Canada training for aspiring SUP instructors.

.) Canadian, American and British certifications: We offer certified training through Paddle Canada, the American Canoe Association and the British Canoe Union. In fact, we were the first outfitter in Ontario to offer unique multi-certification courses such as our Paddle Canada Level 2 Skills and BCU 3-star programming, featuring instructors David Johnston and Bonnie Perry. New for 2013, we launched ACA IDW/ICE training, delivered by veteran Great Lakes sea kayakers Sam Crowley and John Tatro. Besides providing you with the opportunity to receive more awards, our multi-certification instruction samples the best elements of paddlesports training from around the world.

.) A Dynamic Environment: Our base at the junction of the Michipicoten River and Lake Superior offers a diverse array of paddling conditions. For novice-level sea kayak training, such as our Paddle Canada Level 1 skills, as well as for sea kayak, canoe and SUP instructor courses, the sheltered waters of the Michipicoten River offers an ideal training ground. Meanwhile, the big water of Lake Superior provides sufficient challenge for intermediate- and advanced-level sea kayak training, including Paddle Canada Level 2 and Level 3 skills. The mouth of the Michipicoten has been recognized as one of the best places to experience tidal-like conditions on freshwater. Meanwhile, we’re within easy striking distance of some of the wildest coastline in the world for overnight trips.

.) The Best Instructors: Besides our fully certified staff of guides and instructors, we also recruit guest instructors from across North America to deliver our intermediate and advanced sea kayak courses. Our list of friends includes British Columbia’s Michael Pardy, Chicago’s Bonnie Perry, Toronto’s Erik Ogaard and Michigan’s Sam Crowley, to name a few. Longtime NSA staff members like Ray Boucher and director David Wells hold some of the highest instructor-trainer awards in Ontario.
