Next Stop, Paradise

Rock Island Lodge is located just outside Wawa, Ontario, a small town about 2.5 hours north of Sault Ste. Marie, and 5 hours south-east of Thunder Bay, and right on the shore of Lake Superior.

Find us on a 2.75 hectare (7 acre) peninsula at the mouth of the Michipicoten River about 10 km from Wawa.

To the Northwest: Remote coastline and Pukaskwa National Park.
To the South: Historic Michipicoten Post and fabulous Lake Superior Provincial Park.
To the West: On a clear day, you can see mystic Michipicoten Island.
To the East: Land and a myriad of lakes, rivers, mountains and friendly people.

The Details: Turn west off Highway #17 (towards Lake Superior), at Michipicoten River Village Road (5 km south of Wawa) turning right at the bottom of the hill at the first intersection. Turn left at the next "T" (follow our sign) and follow the paved, then dirt road past Silver Falls and the historic cemetery. Before going up the steep hill to the Harbour Lookout, turn left immediately after the Great Lakes Power hydro-station. Follow this road to our gate, where there is a large parking area and bus turn-around next to Government Beach. Just follow the signs!

Fine Print: If you are arriving after hours (usually 6pm in the summer), drive up to the office (the last building after you get to the end of the road- bright yellow door).  There will be a map and directions to your room under the outside light (it's motion sensored so you may have to get close).
