 Wawa Locator small

Rock Island Lodge
is located just outside Wawa, Ontario, a small town about 2.5 hours north of Sault Ste. Marie, and 5 hours south-east of Thunder Bay, and right on the shore of Lake Superior.

Find us on a 2.75 hectare (7 acre) peninsula at the mouth of the Michipicoten River about 10 km from Wawa.

To the Northwest: Remote coastline and Pukaskwa National Park.
To the South: Historic Michipicoten Post and fabulous Lake Superior Provincial Park.
To the West: On a clear day, you can see mystic Michipicoten Island.
To the East: Land and a myriad of lakes, rivers, mountains and friendly people.

DETOUR- Our usual route to Rock Island/NSA is closed. The bridges over Wawa Creek and at Silver Falls are both closed indefinitely. Access is available by way of Trembley Road, also known as Trembley Flats Road. This route is a bit longer, but the road is well maintained and it is difficult to get off track.

From the North (Thunder Bay) you will turn about 2km before reaching Wawa. If you reach the turnoff for the town of Wawa, you have gone too far.

From the South (Sault Ste. Marie) proceed north (NW) past the turnoff to Wawa on Hwy 17, approximately 2 km to Trembley Road. If you get to Northern Lights Ford you have gone too far.

From the East (Chapleau) drive through Wawa on Hwy. 101 and proceed to Hwy 17. At the junction, turn right and proceed north (NW), approximately 2km to Trembley Road. Again, if you reach Northern Lights Ford, you have gone too far.
