Stand Up Paddle Boarding
What is SUP? SUP stands for Stand Up Paddling. This rapidly growing sport has evolved from ocean surfing and participants stand on the paddle-board and propel themselves with a really long paddle similar to a canoe paddle. The great part is that you don't even need waves to have fun.
It is a challenging sport although remarkably easy on flat water especially if you are shown the correct techniques and are on the right board.
Who Can Enjoy This Sport? Though some initial balance certainly helps, no experience is necessary, making it a a sport that appeals to a broad range of ages and physical fitness levels. Bonus- it's a full body workshop. This sport works every single muscle in your body the entire time you are balancing on the board and you don't even feel like you are doing anything at all.
What is included? We will provide your board, paddle and PFD plus a wetsuit and/or paddle jacket if it is cool. Each lesson begins with a safety talk and on-land instruction followed by instruction on how to mount, dismount, paddle, turn, stop etc. We then put these skills into practice on the water until everyone feels comfortable. Lessons go ahead rain or shine. We don't venture out in strong winds, or sever storms or lightning.
What should you bring? Swimwear, long sleeves, sunscreen, sunglasses with strap, hat, and water-shoes (optional).
Rates: $50pp (two person minimum). Includes: 2 hours of instruction and use of SUP for the day. Additional instructor time available by request (charges apply). Boxed lunch available- ask for more details when you register.
